"Black Hollywood"

Tyler Perry Movies "I love Em".. Question Is this.. Since his movies ALWAYS have the Black Knight in shining armor to save these broke down sisters... Should there be a better portrayal strong sisters who don't need a man to overcome? Secondly, Does the "Black Knight in Armor" really set up a False Hope for sisters looking for such a guy?

I don't eff with Tyler Perry, except for Daddy's Little Girls... That movie was acceptable. Anything with Madea or of those neck snapping jigaboos just makes me mad. Hooray for hegemony!

most of his vilms are geared towards women...showing them a reflection of themselves and helpingthe realize that they are precious and to be valued. but he loves to have fun while being serious...I think he is a genius

Totally agree with Damon. Tyler Perry is genius. Clearly people who only see "neck snapping jiggaboos" don't get the totality of what Tyler Perry is doing, and that some of his same characters are in our families, whether we like it or not - the good, the bad, and the ugly.

'The Itis' - A Bitter-Sweet Moment

So this weekend of course was Easter which means what?? Another chance for black folks to come together never talk about the holiday or what it means (which i'm actually fine with) and here's the best part COOKING.

So there is food on top of food baked mac & cheese, greens, sweet potatoes, pasta salad, fish, chicken, roast beef, lasagna, more mac & cheese, deep fried this & that, AND HAM, we even had named brand SODA.

The Sweet- Damn this food is delicious, part of the culture ya dig, cooked just right from mom & auntie, better than TOP CHEF, IRON CHEF, & HELL's Kitchen. All of that.. more than enough food to go around for Thirds (And thirds are rare in the hood). I titled my easter dinner S.C.S. (Sugar Cheese & Soda) which leads to the bitter...

The Bitter- My black ass fell asleep from 6:30pm to 9:30pm which started out as a 30min power nap b4 i had to drive 2 1/2hrs back to D.C. I was a victim of the Itis. I recall during my Itis induced coma a baby crying in the background, folks asking when i was leaving, some giving me b-day money, all kinds of activities. The Itis had rendered me functionless! The only thing I could say was "I CAN'T MOVE YET"

Yea the Itis is a common practice amongst black folks but Damn are we killing ourselves... After my second round of Mac and Cheese I began to slow down.. thank God i'm still young and active.. but we can't keep up these eating habits forever. We got to do better a healthier balance.. At least lets take a first step... My first step !!No Desert!! Where will you begin???... I'm tryna live ya dig.
